Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about starting therapy, my approach, and what to expect.
What happens during the first session?
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, your background, and your goals. It is also a time for you to ask any questions you might have about the process and see if we are a good fit.
How long does a session last and how often will we meet?
A typical therapy session lasts for 50 minutes. Most clients find it beneficial to meet once a week initially to build momentum, and we can adjust the frequency as you progress toward your goals.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a 'superbill' that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything we discuss is kept strictly confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions (such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others), which we will review in detail during our first meeting.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want to understand yourself better, therapy can be a valuable resource. There is no issue 'too small' for therapy. If it is affecting your quality of life, it is worth exploring.
